Mac users searching for a bulk WhatsApp sender get two kinds of result: .dmg downloads that will get the number banned, and a vague sense that the real tools are “Windows only”. Neither is right. The official platform has never been a download on any OS, and on a Mac that is the whole point.
What the Mac downloads actually are
A .dmg that opens WhatsApp Web in an embedded browser, asks you to scan the QR code with your iPhone, and sends from your account in a loop. The macOS packaging changes nothing underneath: it is your consumer account, capped at 256-contact broadcasts, watched for automation, and the iPhone has to stay online for it to work at all. Some are cracked Windows tools wrapped for Mac, with the usual questions about what else is in the bundle.
Why the official version is a website
- The number lives on Meta, not on your iPhone. There is no handset to mirror, so nothing for a desktop app to drive.
- Templates are approved by Meta through a dashboard workflow, not a local binary.
- Delivery events arrive as webhooks from Meta; a local app scraping WhatsApp Web has no access to them.
- The team is on different machines. A Mac in the office, an iPad at home, an Android phone in the field, all on one inbox.
How it works on a Mac
Exporting from Numbers
File → Export To → CSV. Make sure the phone column is formatted as text before export so Numbers does not strip a leading digit or turn a long number into scientific notation, and keep numbers as country code plus number with no plus sign or spaces. The mapping step is the same as in sending a WhatsApp blast from Excel.
