Meta bills per message delivered, not per conversation. Understanding the four buckets saves lakhs at scale.

Quick answer: Meta bills per message delivered, not per conversation. WappBlaster runs on the official Meta WhatsApp Business Platform at a flat ₹7,999 / $200 per year with 0% markup on Meta conversation charges.
Pricing model changed. Meta moved from per-conversation to per-message billing on 1 July 2025, and its documentation now marks conversation pricing deprecated. The buckets below still describe how categories differ in cost; the billing unit is now the delivered template message. Meta has separately announced that service messages become billable from 1 October 2026. See what changes on 1 October 2026.

Why this matters in 2026

WhatsApp costs come from two places, and most confusion about pricing comes from providers presenting them as one. What follows separates the platform fee from Meta’s own per-message charges so the arithmetic is checkable.

Recommended workflow

  1. Step 1: Export last quarter sends by template category
  2. Step 2: Model spend at current Meta India rate card
  3. Step 3: Compare BSP platform fee + markup vs WappBlaster flat ₹7,999/yr
  4. Step 4: Shift transactional traffic to utility templates
  5. Step 5: Reserve marketing for opted-in promo segments only

Production checklist

  • Marketing: highest per-message rate
  • Utility: order updates and reminders
  • Authentication: OTP flows
  • Service window: free replies within 24h of a user message, billable from 1 October 2026

Metrics to track

  • Cost per marketing conversation
  • Utility vs marketing mix
  • Platform fee as % of spend
  • ROAS per template

How WappBlaster helps

WappBlaster is an official Meta WhatsApp Business Platform provider. The platform covers bulk campaigns, the chatbot and automations builders, AI agents, the shared inbox, commerce and payments, with no per-agent or per-contact charge. If you are already with another provider, migration keeps your number and messaging tier and generally takes 1–2 days.

Frequently asked questions

How is a WhatsApp conversation defined for billing?

A 24-hour window with one customer, opened by the first message. Every message inside that window is one conversation, which is why resolving something in one session is cheaper than dragging it across days.

Which conversation category is cheapest?

Service conversations, opened by the customer messaging you, are cheapest. Utility comes next, then marketing. Authentication is priced separately. Getting the category right is the single biggest lever on the Meta bill.

Does the platform add a markup on Meta’s rate?

Ours does not: Meta’s charges are passed through at cost. Many providers add a percentage or resell conversations as "message credits", which is why it is worth asking for the platform fee and the Meta rate separately.

Do prices differ by country?

Yes. Meta publishes per-country conversation rates, so the same campaign to India and to the UK costs different amounts even at identical volume.
