Formula
- India: Hourly basic rate = (Basic + DA) ÷ (working days × 8 hours).
- India OT pay = OT hours × hourly rate × 2.
- UAE: Hourly basic rate = Basic ÷ (working days × 8 hours), typically 30 days × 8 = 240 hours / month.
- UAE weekday OT = OT hours × hourly rate × 1.25.
- UAE weekend / public holiday OT = OT hours × hourly rate × 1.5.
- UAE night OT (10 PM-4 AM) = OT hours × hourly rate × 1.5.
Worked example
Indian factory worker with Rs. 20,000 basic + DA, 26 working days × 8 hours = 208 hours / month. Hourly = 20,000 ÷ 208 ≈ Rs. 96. 12 hours OT at 2× = 12 × 96 × 2 = Rs. 2,304. UAE site engineer with AED 4,000 basic, 30 × 8 = 240 hours / month. Hourly = AED 16.67. 10 weekday OT hours at 1.25× = 10 × 16.67 × 1.25 = AED 208. 4 weekend OT hours at 1.5× = 4 × 16.67 × 1.5 = AED 100. Total OT = AED 308.
